We didn’t picture ourselves making wine. We just found ourselves buying a lot of it (Lance for his wine bar, Reggie for his collection). We eventually started spending more time in vineyards and cellars than we ever expected. Somewhere in those early conversations, we decided that we eventually wanted to do “something” together. Not “make wine” exactly. Just, something.

We knew we liked showing up, we liked learning, and we didn’t want to force it. Over time, like wine, that rhythm of curiosity and consistency grew into The Parallax Project.

For us, being hands-on matters. So does community. We wanted to be part of the process, to learn from friends and mentors, and to contribute something that adds to the bigger Virginia wine conversation. That’s why we’ve leaned into grapes that have been overlooked, underestimated, or simply waiting for the right moment to shine.

Lance co-owns Penny’s (based in Richmond), Reggie co-founded Oenoverse (based in Charlottesville), and we’re producing wine with our friends and mentors at Common Wealth Crush (based in Waynesboro).
